Leachate Plants

Leach-ate is the by-product of the Landfill and is difficult to deal with if the leach-ate builds up in a Landfill Site. This will eventually pollute the water and contaminate the surrounding ground, it has been known to travel underground for long distances and pollute rivers and streams etc.

Some companies pump the leach-ate into the Sewage system and pay dearly for doing so. Leach-ate is an environmental hazard waste.

The best possible source of reducing the problem is to treat it on site. Say, the B.O.D. of the leach-ate is 100%, by using Hi-Lo Technology you could reduce to 0% and this we think is possible by building a treatment plant that will treat the leach-ate on site.

Properties of Leach-ate

  1. It is biodegradable
  2. It can be treated

Mostly all biodegradable material is destroyed by bacteria. At present the maximum bacteria being destroyed is only 0-5%. Leach-ate is a problem to deal with but this problem can be overcome by Hi-Lo Technology.

The Leach-ate Plant

The Hi-Lo Leach-ate Plant is a system that treats biodegradable leach-ate from Landfill Sites.

This can be manufactured in a fabricated steel type system or in a number of pits in the ground on the landfill site, this method would be more cost efficient.

In order to use Hi-Lo technology you have to have the following:

  1. Good supply of Landfill gas
  2. A leach-ate plant (this could be constructed below the ground)
